Hello,
I understand your concern about having your blood pressure (bp) around 138/80 at your age 21 years old. Please find my answer as following:
When we analyze bp reading, we also analyze the time and place when and where we did the measure. Of course, the way of measuring is also to consider (which meter is being used and who has carried out this measurement).
So, there are a variety of factors we do consider before final analysis of bp readings. In your case, specifically:
– you say to have measured bp, I believe it was once. Please repeat measurement for 1 entire week and record the results. You should measure bp early in the morning and randomly in the afternoon.
– what meter did you use? Self checking meters sometimes are not accurate. So, we advice to get measured by a proffessional medical team. Or you can do double checking as per manufacturer advice.
– when did you check your bp? was it fasting? after eating? or randomly? We should know this to see if this is related to any physical activity. That’s why I suggested to check bp early in the morning after being totally relaxed. And I also suggested to measure it randomly in the afternoon to see how it changes after physically involved.
Your bp reading of 138/80 is not worrisome if measured after physical activity; however, we should not rush into final conclusions.
Hope this helps for this time. Let me know your bp results.
