Hello,
I have gone through your medical history carefully and here’s my advice.
Being diagnosed with diabetes at such young age 22 years old, and taking into account that pills were never worked, makes me think that you have type 1 diabetes. However, that is to confirm further.
Actually, there are a few more tests that can determine if you have type 1 or 2 diabetes as following:
– I believe your doctor has checked your fasting blood glucose. However, that is not enough
– HBA1C test should be run to determine the mean of blood sugar within the last 3 months
– Oral glucose tolerance test can also help
– One test that can differentiate type 1 from type 2 diabets is ANA test (antinuclear antibody test). There are 4 types checked:
1. Islet Cell Cytoplasmic Autoantibodies (ICA) :
2. Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase Autoantibodies (GADA)
3. Insulinoma-Associated-2 Autoantibodies (IA-2A)
4. Insulin Autoantibodies (IAA)
After getting the results, we can analyze them and determine the type of diabetes you are having.
Hope this answers your query. Let me know if you have any other concern.
