Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query carefully, and would like to say as follows:
1.First of all palpitations may be felt just before periods due to hormonal imbalance. It’s a well known fact that progesterone has a pro-palpitations effect. This effect is antagonised by the high levels of estrogen. However in the days before periods the levels of estrogen are very low (at a basal levels) causing a hormonal imbalance.
2.Since you are at pre-menopausal age the imbalance between basal levels of estrogen and progesterone is more pronounced (as compared at a younger age when estrogen levels are higher). This explain why menopausal women feel more arrhythmia and palpitations.
3.Before giving my suggestions about medication and treatment I would suggest to do the following examinations to find out the exact nature of palpitations:
a)Blood work
b)Thyroid hormone levels and Estrogen and Progesteron levels
c)Ecg
d)Cardiac echo
e)Holter monitoring
Hope this will be of help!
