49 year old type 2 diabetic last 5 years

Question

Hi I am 49 year old type 2 diabetic last 5 years. I am on medication of glucovance 5/500

My bgs going high last 4 to 5 days high as 26 one time.

After the light breakfast my bgs after 2 hours 19.

I don’t know what to do.

    Hi,

    I understand your concern.

    You are having really high blood sugar levels. This means 2 things:

    • the current therapy is not working; Should increase the current dosage of glucovance; should think to add another medication
    • changes in your diet and lifestyle regimen are not enough. Should follow a strict diet to reduce your blood sugar levels but never skip your meals. Be more physically active.

    In either case, I highly suggest to consult with your doctor about the changes in medications as you need prescription for that.

    If you have any lab report, please upload and send to me, so I can evaluate myself and understand better what’s happening with your health.

    I want to know if you are having any other health issue apart diabetes? (thyroid? hormonal/metabolic problems)?

    Looking forward to have the requested data in.

      Hi doc

      Thanks a million for your reply.

      I am very active person but last 5 days i am not doing anything due to bad weather in jamaica w.I..in jamaica I visited several doctors each and every one giving me different opinions.

      I drink 2 glasses of redwine 5 days a week and I am indian mostly  I eat most home made indian food.

      Mostly my bgs are 8 to 14.I notice one thing every 5 to 6 months my bgs are high on for 1 week after that goes normal like 8 to 14.

      I take 1 glucovance in the morning  I drink wine in the night that’s why I don’t take glucovance.

      I want to know I can take glucovance after I drink redwine.

      Next week I will do the A1c and I upload the reports.

      Pls give me your valuable advice.

    Hi back,

    I would suggest to stop taking red wine at night, and take another glucovance at dinner for at least 1 month.

    Meanwhile, get HBA1C test and send me the reports. If you have other biochemistry tests reports, can send also. I want to know about your liver, kidney and urine analysis.
