  1. Hi,

DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) has demonstrated good anti-inflammatory,analgesic and atioxidant properties.
Even it has FDA approval only for intersticial cystitis,a painful chronic inflammatory condition of the urinary bladder, it is used by doctors for several other medical conditions including chronic prostatitis.

DMSO is recommended when usually used treatments have failed or when patients have initially severe symptoms.

DMSO is administrated topically, intravenously, orally,or injected directly into urethra or bladder. In prostatitis intravenous and by directly injecting into the urethra are two more usually methods of treatment.

DMSO in chronic prostatitisis is injected directly by a catheter or a syringe into the prostatic urethra and then into the bladder. This is done by a specialist in a clinic setting.
After DMSO is placed into the bladder you will hold it in for 15 minutes before emptying your bladder.DMSO is usually given once every 2 weeks until the relief of the symptoms.

Your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics and antispasmotic medications while using DMSO,and he may want you to do blood and urine tests.

Studies have shown significant symptomatic relief achieved in the majority of patients and no systematic or local toxicity has been noted. In few cases in some patients it is seen a relapse of the symptoms after DMSO treatment.

    Hope it helped
