I get raised heart rate a week before and a week after my periods

    Do not worry. This situation you are passing through is considered physiological. During the menstrual cycle females releases hormones, of different nature and different intensity, corresponding to the phase of the cycle they are. The hormones interfere with the nervous system, stimulating it and causing this way tachycardia. Also after the periods, from the hemorrhagic losses the blood volume is a little bit reduced, so the increased heart rate tends to increased the total blood volume.

    • It depends on the cardiac frequency. if it is 90 or more bits/ min you certainly need to take a medication, a beta blocker may be, but you need to pass first to your cardiologist . In the meantime you can begin practicing aerobic exercise, it helps a lot balancing the heart rate.
