Red lump on scalp

Question

Hello,

My boyfriend has a small red lump on his scalp. He says he doesn’t feel any pain but is a little suspicious that it has grown a tiny bit.

He has had it for atleast 6-7 years as he remembers. He was told from a doctor that it was just fat underneath, but it is red and looks irritated.

  1. Hello my dear,

I have just received your mail and have gone through your concern carefully. Here’s my advice.

First, I’d like to have a look at the lump on your boyfriend’s scalp myself in order to evaluate the changes.

If the lump has been there with a soft consistency, then, it might be fatty tissue overgrowth.
Furthermore, sometimes, this fatty growth can get infected and become red.
This explain why you have noted the reddy appearance of this lump although he is not feeling any pain.

So, if it is possible you send a photo of the lump to me so I can see myself.

In either cases, if infected or not, excision by surgeon. However, we should not get precipitated.

If he feels a little tender, give paracetamol or ibuprofen. Dermatologist to consult if any sign of infection.

Hope this helps. Looking forward to have the requested photo in.

Thank you! It does not work to post the picture, I’m afraid. But your response calms us done and we’re going to a doctor to confirm your response. Thank you again.
